Gulistan ring

Regular price Rs. 4,200.00

A symbol of elegance and strength, the double-flowered Mughal poppy is the pinnacle of floral design and detailing in Indian arts & architecture.

Also known as a feathered poppy or a fringed poppy, it is characterised by a multitude of fine, serrated and folded petals, tightly clustered in the head. The petals are rendered in fiery red and orange shades of Carnelian, placed alternately to highlight the layers in this beautiful flower.

For the finesse of craftsmanship required to create this complex flower in marble inlay, the poppy, or
'Posth ka phool' appears only on the headstone of Shah Jahan, at the Taj Mahal.

The Gulistan ring is approximately a 1:40 miniature of the Taj Mahal poppy, as many times more difficult to create on this tiny 2 cm canvas.

Inlaid on a white Makrana marble base. Encased in a 22 Carat gold micron-plated Mughal jali from behind. Adjustable, open ring.

Of the many different types of gems used in the parchin kari of the Taj Mahal, the most significant in Mughal culture is the carnelian. Carnelian was a highly-valued semi-precious gemstone used in amulets, inscribed seals and marble inlay. The Prophet Muhammad is said to have worn a silver ring set with carnelian on the little finger of his right hand, using it as a seal. It was believed that any person who wore carnelian would have their desires fulfilled. The stone's fiery, red-orange color was also associated with power and imperial authority. Carnelian was sourced from Baghdad and Yemen in the Mughal era

Aventurine:

With its characteristic shimmer and a calming green colour, Aventurine was considered a powerful gemstone that aided emotional fulfilment and self-love, helping to bring harmony and balance to the heart. Green aventurine is particularly linked to nature and growth, evoking spring blooms and symbolizing regeneration and new beginnings.
It is also often associated with adventure and discovery, encouraging wearers to open their hearts to new possibilities. Aventurine was sourced from the deccan plateau in India.
