Bahaar charm

Regular price Rs. 4,000.00

Bahaar', a Persian-origin word that literally translates to 'Spring time', features a colour-blocked rendition of the Tulip flower - one of the most common florals seen in the decorative scheme of the Taj Mahal.

Light & shadows of the layered flower are depicted through beautiful reddish-brown Jasper and golden-yellow Jaisalmer stones, in this unique charm. The veins that bring these petals to life are hairline fragments of lustrous mother of pearl.

Inlaid on a white Makrana marble base. Encased in a 22 Carat gold micron-plated Mughal jali from behind.

Please Note: This product contains only the charm and does not come with any additional chains/hoops. The representative images where it is styled with chains/hoops are indicative of styling possibilities.

Jasper:
Colour - Red
No: of Inlaid pieces - 6
In Mughal culture, jasper was associated with groundedness, owing to its Earthy tones. It was a popular stone for talismans and amulets, used as protection against the evil eye. Jasper was sourced from the Gulf of Khambhat, in present day Gujarat.

Jaisalmer:
Colour - Yellow
No: of Inlaid pieces - 3
Used primarily to create depth and contrast with the white marble at the Taj, the Jaisalmer marble is a versatile, durable material. It was hugely popular in Mughal marble inlay owing to its beautiful golden-yellow hues. Quarried primarily in Jaisalmer in Rajasthan, as its name suggests.

Malachite:
Colour - Green
No: of Inlaid pieces - 1
A rare, luxurious gemstone, Malachite was loved for its rich green colour and the naturally occurring bands on the stone. For the Mughals, the lush, verdant green of malachite echoed the abundant vegetation thriving in India’s tropical climate. The green represented new life, wealth and fertility. Malachite was largely mined in the Ural mountain ranges of Russia.

Mother of Pearl:
Colour - White
No: of Inlaid pieces - 5
Associated with the divine feminine, Mother of pearl is an iridescent gemstone that was worn for protection, prosperity and emotional healing. It was often used to depict the moon, sacred to the Mughals. MOP was acquired from the Persian Gulf.
