Sourced from Afghanistan, the deep, celestial blue Lapis lazuli was considered to be the colour of royalty, symbolising wisdom and spiritual power. The Mughals believed that anyone who carried an amulet made of Lapis was in the company of god.

Associated with the divine feminine, Mother of pearl is an iridescent gemstone that was worn for protection, prosperity and emotional healing. It was often used to depict the moon, sacred to the Mughals. MOP was acquired from the Persian Gulf.
